University of West Georgia Names Trustees 2022

The University of West Georgia has appointed Michael Stone to serve on the University’s Board of Trustees. Stone is the CEO and founder of Milestone Investment Management, a Carrollton, Georgia-based Independent Wealth Management firm. Stone said he looks forward to learning more about the strategic plan for UWG and is honored to play a part in putting it into action.

“I want to see UWG become a top-tier, first-choice university,” he shared. “I believe in order to see our community continue to grow, we must show that our university has close ties with the local businesses by supporting and engaging with the business community with a goal of making Carrollton a better place to live, work, and play.”

In addition to serving on a multitude of community organizations, Stone and his wife, Andrea — BFA Class of 1978, founded the Michael and Andrea Stone Visiting Artists Series in 2014, which has hosted critically acclaimed artists and published novelists and poets.

In 2018, the couple committed to a five-year sponsorship of the UWG Marching Band, providing scholarship incentives to retain upper-level band members. Over five years, the sponsorship has provided funds for 96 students.

Most recently, the Student Innovation Lounge located in the Roy Richards Sr. Hall was renamed the Michael and Andrea Stone Student Innovation Lounge, which is used daily by students and student organizations of the Richards School of Business.

UWG Receives $50,000 for Arts Program

The Michael and Andrea Stone Visiting Artist Series will bring artists from around the world to visit UWG and share their art and talents with students and the community through special master classes and performances. Michael Stone, who is the CEO of Milestone Investment Management, said that he believes the arts is critical to the area.
